Volunteer coaches can change the lives of disadvantaged children through sports coaching and helping out in their local communities. This project will change your life as you inspire young children through Africa’s most common sporting activity: football (soccer). Our project facilitates volunteer attachment to established soccer teams in Victoria Falls in the second division to impart their expertise in conditioning, skills development, and game play.
Sports Coaching Volunteering in Zimbabwe
Soccer is Africa’s most common sporting activity. There are a lot of young people who possess natural talent, but lack opportunities to attain a living through the sport due to lack of professional coaching or training.
Netball is a growing sport for girls in Zimbabwe. As a volunteer coach, you’ll help with promoting young female participation in sports. You’ll coach the athletes by teaching them new skills, fostering an environment of team work and increasing the popularity of the sport.
Volunteers engage in coaching activities, training youth, scheduling and game strategy. Volunteers may be requested to work on certain Saturdays and must be flexible and willing to do so.

Criminal Record Check
GOAT Volunteers requires a criminal record (background) check for all projects working with children. Inquire with your local police department to see if they offer this service (many do for free or a small fee). U.S. citizens can visit the U.S. Department of State website for additional information.
The criminal record check must be submitted to GOAT Volunteers after the prospective volunteer’s application is accepted and at least 30 days prior to the project start date.
Volunteers interested in coaching should possess experience playing and/or coaching the sport they wish to work with. This ensures that the volunteer coach has a sufficient understanding of the game and the skills necessary to provide guidance to young athletes.
