Children’s Home Volunteering in Zimbabwe
The Children’s Home Volunteering in Zimbabwe project supports an orphanage that acts as a safe house for abused and vulnerable children in Victoria Falls. Many of these kids have come from from unwanted pregnancies or worse and have nowhere to call home. Their stories are heartbreaking, but their bright smiles are enough to shine a light on all the possibilities of their futures now that they have a loving home to care for them. Volunteers on this project play a critical role in providing compassion, friendship, and educational support.
Children’s Home Volunteering in Zimbabwe is a challenging, yet life-changing opportunity for volunteers seeking a chance to make a positive impact on the lives of children who need it the most. The kids range in age from under 2 to 17 and have all been brought to the children’s home to give them a better future.
There is a wide range of ways that volunteers can help the kids at the home. Telling them stories about your home country, reading to them, helping them with their homework, and playing with them helps to create a happy life despite starting off under such unfortunate circumstances. The children often want to learn about the volunteers’ home, music, sports, and social life activities. This gives them a glimpse into the world outside their city and can encourage them to pursue their dreams.

Criminal Record Check
GOAT Volunteers requires a criminal record (background) check for all projects working with children. Inquire with your local police department to see if they offer this service (many do for free or a small fee). U.S. citizens can visit the U.S. Department of State website for additional information.
The criminal record check must be submitted to GOAT Volunteers after the prospective volunteer’s application is accepted and at least 30 days prior to the project start date.
