Child Care Volunteering in South Africa
Do you think little kids are the cutest thing ever? Obviously! If spending time and caring for the littlest of humans makes you absurdly happy, then this project was made for you! The GOAT Volunteers Child Care Volunteering in South Africa project tasks volunteers with helping underprivileged kids with their communication skills and overall development. It’s guaranteed to be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
Our NGO partner’s Child Care volunteering project is run by 2 local “mama’s” who have no formal education in child care or running a day care center. Volunteers can be a huge help in the pre-school by giving practical examples of age appropriate games and lessons that can be implemented by the caregivers even after the volunteers leave. The language in the pre-schools is primarily Xhosa, however English can be introduced to children at this young age to help set the foundation for further learning as they enter primary school.
As a relatively new town with limited resources, any additional support makes a huge difference in the lives and education of the children.
You can make an even greater impact at your project by donating school supplies (pens, pencils, notebooks, etc.) or fundraising to help finance the purchase of new equipment & supplies. Visit the Contact Us page to inquire for more details.

Criminal Record Check
GOAT Volunteers requires a criminal record (background) check for all projects working with children. Inquire with your local police department to see if they offer this service (many do for free or a small fee). U.S. citizens can visit the U.S. Department of State website for additional information.
The criminal record check must be submitted to GOAT Volunteers after the prospective volunteer’s application is accepted and at least 30 days prior to the project start date.
